Ombuds Spotlight – Elaine Shaw
Elaine Shaw truly loves her role as an Ombuds, seeing it as the ideal culmination of her career dedicated to working with people and organizations. She finds that she can integrate all aspects of herself into this work—whether as a yoga leader, mindfulness practitioner, Renaissance musician, or watercolorist. All these elements contribute to her Ombuds practice, where she helps individuals discover creative ways to excel at work.
Although she is no longer working full-time, Elaine remains actively engaged. She volunteers at a local “Free Store,” mediates and facilitates “Circle keeping” (Restorative Justice work) at a community dispute resolution center, advocates for racial and economic justice, and provides translation and interpretation services for a local immigration law agency.
