After a six year hiatus, Mark Rubin, respected lawyer, lobbyist, educator and consultant, is rejoining The McCammon Group, a leading provider of dispute resolution and prevention services in the mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to developing a thriving legal practice, Mark showed an early interest in the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) movement that was gaining traction in Virginia in the early 1990s. He subsequently joined The McCammon Group and eventually shifted his focus exclusively to ADR. During the years that followed, he mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases while also serving as a facilitator, trainer and consultant to a number of agencies and corporations in a variety of organizational disputes.
In 2004, Mark put his thriving ADR practice on hold to heed the call of public service. He served as Counselor to Governor Timothy M. Kaine for four years utilizing his dispute resolution skills to find common ground in policy matters involving varied stakeholders. After the completion of the administration of Governor Kaine, Mark accepted the role of Executive Director of the Office of Government Relations for Virginia Commonwealth University and the VCU Health System. He also was appointed A.L. Philpott Adjunct Chair of Law at the University of Richmond Law School.
Mark will continue his work at VCU and the University of Richmond, but now also rejoins The McCammon Group to return to the practice of ADR. He is again available to serve the dispute resolution and prevention needs of lawyers, litigants, agencies and stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.
The McCammon Group provides ADR including mediation, arbitration, neutral evaluation, special master and private judging, as well as related facilitation, training, and consulting services. It consists of seventy-five Neutrals, including retired judges and practicing attorneys located throughout Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Since its founding in 1995, The McCammon Group has mediated thousands of disputes, with a settlement rate of 85%. The McCammon Group is committed to the proposition that ADR processes provide individuals, as well as public and private entities, with many substantial benefits including effective and prompt resolution of disputes, self determination, cost savings, timeliness, flexibility, and confidentiality.
