Virginia Supreme Court Senior Justice Lawrence L. Koontz, Jr., a Neutral with The McCammon Group, was awarded the Ted Dalton American Inn of Court Professionalism Award on April 20 in Salem. This award honors the memories of Professor Roger D. Groot, attorney Oliver W. Hill, Sr., and U.S. District Judge James C. Turk. The award was established to pay homage to competence, civility, professionalism, and ethics in the legal world.
Senior Justice Koontz served the Supreme Court of Virginia with distinction for more than a decade. Prior to his service on the high court, he spent several years as the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia, the Judge of the Twenty-third Judicial Circuit Court, and the Chief Judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in the Twenty-third Judicial Circuit.
Senior Justice Koontz is a past President of the Ted Dalton American Inn of Court, the Virginia Juvenile Judges Association, and the Roanoke Valley Mental Health Association. He is also a former Member of the Judicial Council of Virginia and the Board of Governors of the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar.
