The Honorable Nolan B. Dawkins (Ret.) has joined The McCammon Group, a leading provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services in the mid-Atlantic region.
Judge Dawkins recently retired after over twenty-five years of distinguished judicial service in Alexandria, most recently serving twelve years as a Judge on the Circuit Court. He was the first African American Judge to serve in Alexandria, beginning his judicial tenure as a Judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, including four years as Chief Judge. As a lawyer, Judge Dawkins enjoyed a successful career in private practice and as an Assistant City Attorney for Alexandria. He admirably served his community on various boards and committees including the Alexandria Community Justice Board, the Board of Governors of the Alexandria Bar Foundation, and the Virginia Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Court Rules. Judge Dawkins now brings this record of dedication, leadership, and accomplishment to The McCammon Group to serve the mediation and arbitration needs of lawyers and litigants throughout Virginia, DC, and beyond.
Since 1995 The McCammon Group has provided ADR services including mediation, arbitration, judge pro tempore, and special master. It consists of over eighty Neutrals including retired judges and practicing attorneys located throughout Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Importantly, throughout this time The McCammon Group has achieved a settlement rate of approximately 85% in its mediation work. The McCammon Group is committed to the proposition that ADR processes provide individuals, as well as public and private entities, with many substantial benefits including effective and prompt resolution of disputes, self-determination, cost savings, timeliness, flexibility, and confidentiality.
