Hon. Johanna L. Fitzpatrick (Ret.) Receives the VTLA Distinguished Service Award

The Honorable Johanna L. Fitzpatrick
She has worked as a legal aid lawyer, a lawyer in private practice, and served as a Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court Judge, a Circuit Court Judge, a Court of Appeals of Virginia Judge, and a Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. She has been recognized as the Virginia Woman of Achievement in Government, as the Outstanding Woman Attorney of the Year in Virginia, and as Woman of the Year by both the Fairfax Commission on Women and the Virginia Women’s Attorney’s Association. She has taught trial and appellate advocacy, chaired standards committees, written white papers and other major policy initiatives, acted as a mediator, and has been a champion of judicial independence. With her husband Charles H. Fitzpatrick, she has also raised two sons. We are pleased to honor the remarkable Johanna L. Fitzpatrick.
