Daniel E. Toomey, an accomplished litigator, educator, and professional in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), has joined The McCammon Group, a leading provider of mediation, arbitration, and related dispute resolution services in the mid-Atlantic.
Mr. Toomey has extensive experience litigating and mediating Government Contract and Construction-related disputes including, but not limited to bid protests, delay, disruption, acceleration, and design defect claims. He has litigated cases in numerous Federal District Courts from Coast to Coast and in both the U.S. Court of Federal Claims (USCFC) as well as Federal Boards of Contract Appeals. Mr. Toomey served for a number of years on the Advisory Committee to the USCFC.
For the past 20 years, he has been involved in ADR as either an advocate, mediator, or arbitrator.
For the past decade, Mr. Toomey has been an appointed member of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia’s Mediation Panel and has been regularly called upon to mediate a wide range of disputes with an expertise in construction cases.
In 2000, Mr. Toomey was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is listed in Chambers USA as a specialist in Construction Litigation and has also been acknowledged as such in the Virginia and D.C. editions of Super Lawyers as well as that magazine’s Corporate Counsel edition.
For 20 years, Mr. Toomey was an Adjunct Professor of Law at his alma mater, Georgetown Law Center, where he taught both Construction Law and Criminal Trial Practice. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Paul R. Dean Award by Georgetown for distinguished service to the Law Center. And for over 30 years, Mr. Toomey has been involved in the teaching of Trial Advocacy. In 1978, he co-founded the NITA Program in Basic Trial Advocacy Skills at Georgetown Law Center. For the last five years, he has been the Program Director of the D.C. NITA Advanced Program in Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Toomey is a past President of the Assistant U.S. Attorney’s Association of the District of Columbia.
Mr. Toomey will continue his law practice with Duane Morris, but now also lends his expertise to The McCammon Group as he serves the mediation, arbitration, and special master needs of lawyers and litigants throughout the United States and abroad.
