Karen Asaro
Areas of Experience
Karen Asaro has over 35 years of experience in ADR in federal, state and local organizations. She began her career in ADR with the City of Virginia Beach where she managed court-referred family mediation and HR workplace mediation for twenty-seven years. For many years she has provided mediation training for local courts and taught mediation at Christopher Newport University. Karen has served as an ADR Advisor for FEMA for the past eleven years.
Karen is a Virginia Supreme Court certified mediator and serves on a number of dispute resolution panels including the United States Postal Service Redress Program, Key Bridge Foundation’s DOJ ADA Mediation Program, Virginia Department of Education Special Education Mediation Program and Virginia State Bar Fee Dispute Resolution Program.
Karen is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, ABA Dispute Resolution Section, Coalition of Federal Ombuds, International Ombuds Association and is past President of the Virginia Mediation Network.
