Retiring Jurists from the Top Courts in Virginia and Maryland Join The McCammon Group

Honorable Elizabeth B. Lacy (Ret.), formerly of the Supreme Court of Virginia, and Honorable Dale R. Cathell (Ret.), formerly of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, have joined The McCammon Group (The Group), the leading dispute resolution provider in the mid-Atlantic area, effective January 1, 2008. Although The Group already contains more than twenty five retired judges from the trial and/or appeals courts, Justice Lacy and Judge Cathell are the first in The Group from the highest courts of Virginia and Maryland respectively.

Justice Lacy’s twenty-two years of distinguished judicial service on Virginia’s highest court and Virginia’s State Corporation Commission were preceded by senior administrative and litigation positions in the Offices of the Attorney General of Virginia and Texas.

Judge Cathell is one of only three judges in the history of Maryland to be appointed to and serve on all four levels of Maryland’s judicial system: District Court, Circuit Court, Court of Special Appeals, and Court of Appeals. During his time on the bench, he authored more than 1,000 opinions involving virtually every type of civil case.
